even if the fear of something worse had mobilized enough people to deliver a victory to clinton in this election, or even if it does so for someone like her in 2020, that would merely kick the can down the road while the right continues to grow stronger. it would not build the power we need to win and to build a better world. to do that, we need to organize... february 12, 2017against trump and peña: unity from below and without bordersfrom the revolutionary workers’ party (prt)after the dramatic increase in fuel, electricity, and water prices throughout the country and a month of uninterrupted, massive protests across the country that have deepened the crisis of... february 6, 2017build and fight: beyond trump and the limitations of the united frontby kali akuno and doug norbergon inauguration day, we note the considerable range of the opposition to trump, from traditional activists to very mainstream folks. in many respects the opposition mounted was unprecedented, on a day... november 9, 2016build the left to defeat the rightfrom the steering committee of solidaritylike millions of people here and around the world, we woke up this morning dismayed and frightened that donald trump has been elected president. whatever we each thought of the democratic party and of... all featured articles february 9, 2017fighting trumpism: where do we go from here?by micah landauit’s been two weeks since donald trump’s inauguration sparked some of the largest rallies in american history. each week since has also seen demonstrations, culminating in those that broke out at... february 1, 2017trump makes early enemiesby dan la botzpresident donald trump and his alt-right advisor stephen bannon—“president bannon” as he is being called—are making enemies fast, and lots of them. leaders of some of the country’s largest... january 24, 2017women's march 2017: the birth of a new women's movement?by nancy holmstromi came back from the women’s march in d.c. exhausted but thrilled, convinced that we are seeing the birth of a new women’s movement. the size, the inclusiveness, the defiant but good-humored... january 24, 2017who put trump in the white house?by kim moodythe media story in the days following the 2016 election was that a huge defection of angry, white, blue-collar workers in the rust belt from their traditional democratic voting patterns put donald j.... january 8, 2017refinery town: a model for local political actionby ryan haneyrefinery town: big oil, big money and the remaking of an american city will be available from beacon press on january 17th, 2017. steve early’s refinery town is a compelling read on multiple levels.... all recent articles the january-february 2017 against the current (#186) features: angela d. dillard on the alt-right on campuses rebecca kemble's eyewitness account from standing rock gayatri kumar on canada's truth and reconciliation commission the elections and beyond: articles from malik miah, kim moody, howie hawkins, chris maisano, and jeff wilson on conceiving a socialist future: contributions from sam friedman and karin baker for new subscribers: $25 one year ($30 overseas), $45 two years see the current issue see past issues how does ecosocialist politics differ from traditional socialist and labor politics? how do we ensure the generalized satisfaction of needs for all, including the equalization of living standards between the industrialized nations and the rest of the world, if humanity can no longer afford to keep expanding production based on energy from fossil fuels? in 2014 solidarity’s ecosocialist working group began a project to discuss these and related questions. we publish three essays here as the beginning of a working paper exchanging ideas, proposals, and possible strategic frameworks. we also invite your comments. see the questions and responses here: six questions for ecosocialists. automation threatens the working class 3 days 15 hourssure nationalize the big six! 3 days 15 hoursbravo, jules! let's face it: 4 days 15 hoursto judges: please study intensely the dv scholarship or recuse 5 days 21 hoursreposting an article 1 week 2 days enter your email address and sign up for our announcement and updates list, solidarity news. get articles and upcoming events delivered every month. twitter youtube facebook rss feed email: phone: mail: info@solidarity-us.org 313-841-0160 7012 michigan ave detroit, mi 48210 solidarity depends on the generous contributions of its friends and allies to continue its work. please consider giving!
