even if the fear of something worse had mobilized enough people to deliver a victory to clinton in this election, or even if it does so for someone like her in 2020, that would merely kick the can down the road while the right continues to grow stronger. it would not build the power we need to win and to build a better world. to do that, we need to organize... february 12, 2017against trump and peña: unity from below and without bordersfrom the revolutionary workers’ party (prt)after the dramatic increase in fuel, electricity, and water prices throughout the country and a month of uninterrupted, massive protests across the country that have deepened the crisis of... february 6, 2017build and fight: beyond trump and the limitations of the united frontby kali akuno and doug norbergon inauguration day, we note the considerable range of the opposition to trump, from traditional activists to very mainstream folks. in many respects the opposition mounted was unprecedented, on a day... november 9, 2016build the left to defeat the rightfrom the steering committee of solidaritylike millions of people here and around the world, we woke up this morning dismayed and frightened that donald trump has been elected president. whatever we each thought of the democratic party and of... all featured articles march 27, 2017chuck berry's promised landby dennis o'neilthe reverberations from the death of chuck berry are starting to subside. the news naturally had the greatest impact on people of my generation, boomers, for whom he is an inextricable part of the... march 14, 2017a partial peace in colombiaby kevin youngin november 2016 the colombian congress approved a peace deal between the government and the revolutionary armed forces of colombia (farc) guerrillas, potentially ending a 50-year armed conflict that... february 20, 2017remembering seymour kramer (1946-2017)by patrick m. quinnseymour kramer, a founding member of solidarity and longtime labor union activist in the san francisco bay area, died of complications of diabetes in berkeley, california, on january 20, 2017 at the... february 9, 2017fighting trumpism: where do we go from here?by micah landauit’s been two weeks since donald trump’s inauguration sparked some of the largest rallies in american history. each week since has also seen demonstrations, culminating in those that broke out at... february 1, 2017trump makes early enemiesby dan la botzpresident donald trump and his alt-right advisor stephen bannon—“president bannon” as he is being called—are making enemies fast, and lots of them. leaders of some of the country’s largest... all recent articles the march-april 2017 against the current (#187) features: an editorial on trump's rule to ruin malik miah on making trump's america ungovernable christophe vials on measuring attraction to a fascist demagogue an interview with kristen buras on the charterization of new orleans schools international women's day: birth of a new movement? articles and reviews by nancy holmstrom, natalia santos-orozco, angela hubler, and ann ferguson for new subscribers: $25 one year ($30 overseas), $45 two years see the current issue see past issues how does ecosocialist politics differ from traditional socialist and labor politics? how do we ensure the generalized satisfaction of needs for all, including the equalization of living standards between the industrialized nations and the rest of the world, if humanity can no longer afford to keep expanding production based on energy from fossil fuels? in 2014 solidarity’s ecosocialist working group began a project to discuss these and related questions. we publish three essays here as the beginning of a working paper exchanging ideas, proposals, and possible strategic frameworks. we also invite your comments. see the questions and responses here: six questions for ecosocialists. automation 4 weeks 4 daysexcellent proposals, but something else to consider 4 weeks 5 daysautomation threatens the working class 5 weeks 4 dayssure nationalize the big six! 5 weeks 4 daysbravo, jules! let's face it: 5 weeks 5 days enter your email address and sign up for our announcement and updates list, solidarity news. get articles and upcoming events delivered every month. twitter youtube facebook rss feed email: phone: mail: info@solidarity-us.org 313-841-0160 7012 michigan ave detroit, mi 48210 solidarity depends on the generous contributions of its friends and allies to continue its work. please consider giving!
